FAQ

  1. What program do you use? Adobe Photoshop

  2. What brushes do you use? I have an accumulation of brushes over the years. Some are free downloads from Adobe's website, some are free found on gumroad, some are custom made from friends, and some are custom made myself. I don't have specific names for half of my brush packs.

  3. What tablet do you use? I use Huion Inspiroy H950P. It's about $50 on amazon not on sale, and it's still practically brand new after 5-6 years of usage. I do not recommend anything smaller than 8.7” x 5.4” drawing area.

  4. How did you get work in the industry? I drew fanart and was contacted to do work. It was solo projects on a freelance contract/NDA! Literally out of thin air for which I am very thankful. Keep drawing what you love!

  5. What Fandoms are you in? I'm not "in" fandoms, I just like many fandoms and will draw for most anything, it just depends on my hyperfixation. My main favorites are Star Wars, Bioshock 1+2, Peaky Blinders, The Walking Dead, The Boys, Resident Evil 7, Ghost (Band), Marvel, and much more.

  6. Where do you get your references and resources? Youtube, (Proko, Marco Bucci, etc.), Pinterest, Pixabay and other free stock photo resources. City people watching videos. I look at other artists 85% of the time for reference if my proportions and style is coming out how I want.

  7. How do you get out of an artblock? An art block is not necessarily when you don't know what to draw, but because you've reached a point where your ability to draw via hand and brain coordination is no longer matched up with your ability to see. You can see and understand art more than what you are able to draw, so that leads to frustration. Then, the more you work your skills, your physical skills meet your ability to see. And then it happens again in a cycle. This is art block. Simply put, draw something everyday and when in doubt, go back to the basics.

  8. What are you cats' names? Evie and Willow!

  9. Do you write? I write fiction and poetry professionally, and enjoy editing and copyediting. I've started by rping which I've done for 18 years now.

  10. Do you play music? Yes, I play by ear and sight. I play piano, guitar, dulcimers, banjo, melodica, ukelele and I got me some bongos. I like almost all genres. I'm a bluegrass country truther and I love folk music, just as much as I enjoy the occasional pop, rock, metal. I also really enjoy 1920s-1950s music.

  11. What is color mapping? I use color mapping a lot because it's simple and fun and adds color depth. Color mapping takes color gradients and applies its value to the greyscale values and tones in your artwork. Essentially "mapping" color to it. Working in greyscale helps you better understand value and depth and light relation rather than stressing yourself out with so many hues to choose from.

  12. What are your favorite colors? I like 70s colors, earth tones, olive greens, and what I can only describe as hatsune miku coded colors
